Ronnie Ransom, LPC
Who I Work With
I enjoy working with adolescents, young adults, and adults who are navigating the challenges of life, relationships, identity, and personal growth. I have a particular interest in working with men, student-athletes, high-performing professionals, and individuals with ADHD who may be struggling with focus, emotional regulation, confidence, or feeling overwhelmed by the demands placed on them. I also enjoy working with people who are used to being the strong one for everyone else but may find it difficult to give themselves that same support. My goal is to help clients feel understood as whole people, not defined by their struggles, circumstances, or achievements.
Areas I Help With
I have experience helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, self-esteem, emotional regulation, and difficulties with focus and executive functioning. I am particularly interested in supporting individuals with ADHD, men navigating emotional and relational challenges, and athletes or high-achieving individuals working through performance pressure, identity, confidence, and the expectations they place on themselves. I also help clients recognize unhelpful patterns, strengthen coping skills, and develop a better understanding of how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence their everyday lives.
My Approach to Counseling
My approach is conversational, collaborative, and practical. I draw from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and person-centered, trauma-informed care to help clients better understand themselves and develop tools they can use outside of the therapy room. I believe therapy should provide both a space to process what you are experiencing and an opportunity to learn how to navigate life’s challenges differently. I can be reflective and encouraging, but I am also comfortable asking tough questions, challenging unhelpful patterns, and using humor when appropriate. Ultimately, I want our work to feel authentic, purposeful, and connected to the changes that matter most to you.
What You Can Expect Working With Me
When working with me, you can expect a space where you can speak openly, feel respected, and explore difficult experiences without fear of judgment. I want to understand your story, recognize the strengths you already possess, and work with you to identify the patterns or barriers that may be keeping you from where you want to be. We will work together to establish meaningful goals, develop practical skills, and build a better understanding of yourself along the way. I believe growth requires both compassion and accountability, so I will meet you where you are while also encouraging you to challenge yourself and take steps toward the life you want to build.
Telehealth / In-Person Availability
I currently provide telehealth counseling to clients in Virginia. Virtual sessions offer a convenient and accessible way to engage in therapy while maintaining a consistent space for personal growth, reflection, and change. I do offer In-Person on a twice a month basis with open spots currently available.
Taking the first step toward counseling can feel uncomfortable, especially if you are used to handling everything on your own. You do not have to have everything figured out before you begin. If you are ready to better understand yourself, work through what has been weighing on you, and develop practical tools for moving forward, I would welcome the opportunity to work with you.
