Getting Started with Counseling

What to Expect When Scheduling and Attending Your First Appointment

Beginning counseling can feel unfamiliar, especially if you have never worked with a therapist before. You do not need to have everything figured out before contacting us. Our goal is to help you understand your options, connect with an appropriate clinician, and take the next step at a pace that feels manageable.

How Getting Started Works

Taking the first step is easier than you think

1. Reach Out

Call or Submit an appointment request.

2. Tell Us What You're Looking For

Share a little about your concerns, prefrences, and desired meeting arrangement.

3. Connect With a Therapist

We help identify a clinician whose experience and availibility fits your needs.

4. Complete Your Intake Forms

Provide the background information your therapist needs before the first session.

5. Attend Your First Appointment

Begin discussing what brought you to therapy and your goals you'd like accomplish

Telehealth or In-person?

We offer both telehealth and in-person sessions to help make services accessible and convenient.  Together we can determine which option best meets your needs and helps you feel most comfortable.

Choose to meet with your therapist from the comfort of your own home or another quiet space

Or visit your therapist in the office for a welcoming, supportive, and confidential exerience.

What Happens During the First Session ?

Your first appointment is primarily an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know each other.  We will talk about what brought you to therapy, gather relevant background info, and begin to identify goals for our work together.

You are not expected to tell your entire life story in one appointment. This is a collaborative conversation where you can questions, share what feels comfortable, and begin exploring the support you need.

Get Started Today

You don't have to wait until everything feels overwhelming before asking for support.  There are no awards for longsuffering. Whether you know exactly what you want to work on, or simply know that something needs to change, we can help you determine the next step in your journey
