Transform Your Heart and Mind

Treament/ Threrapy for Depression

Depression can affect much more than mood. It may change the way a person thinks, sleeps, eats, interacts with others, approaches responsibilities, or experiences activities that once felt meaningful.

Some people describe depression as sadness. Others experience it as exhaustion, irritability, numbness, isolation, hopelessness, low motivation, difficulty concentrating, or simply feeling unlike themselves.

Counseling provides a place to understand what may be contributing to these experiences and begin developing steps toward change. Therapy may involve exploring negative or self-critical thinking patterns, addressing unresolved experiences, rebuilding routines, increasing meaningful activity, strengthening relationships, improving coping skills, and identifying sources of purpose and support.

Progress often occurs gradually. Treatment is not about telling someone to “think positively” or simply pushing through difficult feelings. It involves understanding the emotional, behavioral, relational, and environmental factors that may be maintaining depression and working collaboratively to create healthier patterns.

When appropriate, therapists can also coordinate or encourage consultation with medical or psychiatric providers when medication evaluation or additional support may be beneficial.
