Individual Counseling & Therapy at VCA
Individual counseling provides a private, supportive space to focus on the concerns, experiences, and goals that are most important to you. People come to therapy for many different reasons. Some are working through anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship concerns, or major life changes. Others may simply feel stuck, overwhelmed, or ready to better understand themselves and make meaningful changes.
At Virginia Counseling Associates, individual therapy begins with getting to know you—not simply a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. Your therapist will work with you to understand what is happening in your life, identify patterns that may be contributing to your concerns, and develop goals that reflect what you would like to change or improve.
Sessions may include exploring thoughts and emotions, developing healthier coping strategies, improving communication, strengthening relationships, processing difficult experiences, and learning practical skills that can be used outside of therapy. The process is collaborative, and treatment is tailored to your individual needs, personality, experiences, and goals.
Therapy does not require you to have everything figured out before you begin. Sometimes the first goal is simply understanding what has been happening and deciding where you would like to go from there.
