Anxiety Treatment
Anxiety is more than occasionally feeling nervous or worried. For some people, worry becomes difficult to control and begins affecting sleep, concentration, relationships, work, school, decision-making, or the ability to enjoy everyday life.
Anxiety can take many forms. Some people experience constant worry and overthinking. Others experience panic, physical tension, fear of particular situations, social anxiety, difficulty tolerating uncertainty, or a persistent feeling that something bad is about to happen.
Counseling can help clients understand how anxiety operates and why avoiding uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, or situations sometimes makes anxiety stronger over time. Therapy may include identifying anxious thinking patterns, developing coping and relaxation skills, learning to tolerate uncertainty, improving emotional regulation, and gradually building confidence in situations that previously felt overwhelming.
Treatment is individualized because anxiety does not look the same for everyone. The goal is not necessarily to eliminate every uncomfortable feeling. It is to help you develop a healthier relationship with anxiety so that worry and fear have less control over how you live your life.
